Security and file handling
What happens to a document after you upload it: where it goes, who can reach it, how long it stays, and what we will not do with it. Every tool works without an account, and nothing on this page depends on having one.
How your files travel
Files go straight from your browser to Google Cloud Storage over an encrypted connection, using a signed link created for that one upload, which expires after 15 minutes. The conversion runs on Google Cloud in Belgium, and the result comes back the same way. Your files are stored in the EU, and OfficeM8 is operated from the European Union.
Who can reach them
- Your uploads are tied to your own session. A guest gets an anonymous identity, so files stay yours rather than mixing with anyone else's.
- The upload links are signed, short-lived and single-purpose: they expire, and they open nothing else.
- Google Cloud stores and processes the files on our behalf, in the EU. Nobody else receives them, and we do not look at their contents.
How long they stay, and how deletion works
- When you delete a file, its contents are erased from storage straight away. No deleted copies, versions or backups are kept, so it cannot be recovered, even by us.
- Uploads and results are deleted five minutes after you download the result: always as a guest, and by default with an account (you can switch this off in Settings).
- Anything you have not deleted stays until you delete it or ask us to. Server logs are kept for 30 days.
What we do not do
- We do not use the contents of your files to train AI models.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not ask for an email address before giving you a result.
What an account changes
Every tool works as a guest, with a limit of 10 MB per file. Signing in raises that to 25 MB and keeps your files together across devices. That is all an account changes — nothing stops halfway to ask you to register.
