Add page numbers to a PDF
Add page numbers to a PDF that has none, wherever you want them to sit.
How it works
- Upload your PDF file.
- Choose the font, size, and where the number goes.
- Click Add Page Numbers to start.
What this tool does to your file
A running number is stamped onto every page using one of the PDF Standard-14 fonts, so nothing is embedded and the file grows by almost nothing. You choose which corner it sits in. Placement honours each page’s own rotation value: a landscape scan stored as a portrait page turned 90 degrees still gets an upright number in the corner you asked for, rather than one lying on its side. Because the number is drawn into the page content, it is part of the document afterwards — it will print, and it cannot be toggled off in a reader the way a header in a word processor can. Underline and strikethrough are drawn as real lines, since PDF has no text attribute for either. Existing page content is not moved or re-flowed to make room, so a number lands on top of anything already occupying that corner.
What happens to your files
- No account needed — Every tool works as a guest. Signing in raises the limits and keeps your files together, but nothing asks you to register before you get a result.
- It runs in your browser — There is nothing to install and nothing to keep up to date. Files travel to our servers over an encrypted connection, and come back the same way.
- Your files stay yours — Files and results stay in your account until you delete them. Files from a guest session that is never linked to an account are removed automatically after a period of inactivity.
- Size limits, stated up front — Up to 10 MB per file as a guest, and up to 25 MB signed in. You see the limit before you upload, not after.
