What this tool does to your file

The Rich Text Format file is converted to a PDF and each page of that PDF is rendered to an image — PNG, JPEG or TIFF — returned as a zip, one per page. Because it goes through the PDF step, it inherits that conversion’s limits: no embedded fonts, so characters outside Latin-1 including Hungarian’s ő and ű render as question marks, and images and precise layout from the original are not reproduced. A single rendered page is capped at 24 million pixels, about 500 DPI on A4. Anti-aliasing is available and works by rendering larger and scaling down. The output is a picture, so the text in it is no longer selectable or searchable. RTF uploads are capped at 25 MB whatever your tier, because the format is uncompressed.

What happens to your files

No account needed — Every tool works as a guest. Signing in raises the limits and keeps your files together, but nothing asks you to register before you get a result.
It runs in your browser — There is nothing to install and nothing to keep up to date. Files travel to our servers over an encrypted connection, and come back the same way.
Your files stay yours — Files and results stay in your account until you delete them. Files from a guest session that is never linked to an account are removed automatically after a period of inactivity.
Size limits, stated up front — Up to 10 MB per file as a guest, and up to 25 MB signed in. You see the limit before you upload, not after.
