What this tool does to your file
Each sheet of the OpenDocument Spreadsheet is rendered to its own image — PNG, JPEG or TIFF — and the set comes back as a zip. One image per sheet rather than per printed page, so a wide sheet stays whole instead of being cut across page boundaries. A single rendered image is capped at 24 million pixels, roughly 500 DPI on an A4-sized area, so a very large sheet is bounded by its area rather than by its file size. The output is a picture: the values in it are no longer selectable, searchable or sortable, which is the trade for having it display anywhere without a spreadsheet application. An .ods is a compressed container, so the limit that binds is inflation — capped at 200 MB — rather than the size of the file you uploaded.
What happens to your files
- No account needed — Every tool works as a guest. Signing in raises the limits and keeps your files together, but nothing asks you to register before you get a result.
- It runs in your browser — There is nothing to install and nothing to keep up to date. Files travel to our servers over an encrypted connection, and come back the same way.
- Your files stay yours — Files and results stay in your account until you delete them. Files from a guest session that is never linked to an account are removed automatically after a period of inactivity.
- Size limits, stated up front — Up to 10 MB per file as a guest, and up to 25 MB signed in. You see the limit before you upload, not after.
