What this tool does to your file

Each page of the document is rendered to a raster image — PNG, JPEG or TIFF — and returned as a zip. The document is converted to a PDF first and that PDF is rendered, so the images inherit the same limits as the PDF conversion: no embedded fonts, so characters outside Latin-1 — Hungarian’s ő and ű among them — appear as question marks, and images and exact layout from the original are not reproduced. What you get is a picture of the text as laid out on the page. A single rendered page is capped at 24 million pixels, roughly 500 DPI on A4. Accepts .docx, legacy .doc and .rtf. Use it when a document has to be viewable somewhere that cannot open Word files at all — a chat thread, a slide, a web page.

What happens to your files

No account needed — Every tool works as a guest. Signing in raises the limits and keeps your files together, but nothing asks you to register before you get a result.
It runs in your browser — There is nothing to install and nothing to keep up to date. Files travel to our servers over an encrypted connection, and come back the same way.
Your files stay yours — Files and results stay in your account until you delete them. Files from a guest session that is never linked to an account are removed automatically after a period of inactivity.
Size limits, stated up front — Up to 10 MB per file as a guest, and up to 25 MB signed in. You see the limit before you upload, not after.
